Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Recruitment
The formation of a Public Service Commission is dated way back to the British days where the first Public Service Commission was set up under the growing insistence of granting more civil jobs to Indians. Hence, Indian constitution created a body call the Public Service Commission for various states including the formation of the Assam Public Service Commission.
With its inception in the year 1937, Assam Public Service Commission was set up in accord with the Government of India Act, 1935. Since it being a body established and convened by our constitution, this very fact ensures the dealing in state level matters at an impartial and just manner. The Governor of State appoints the commission Chairman and the members. In line with its functioning and state involvement in the matters, the examinations are as per the requisition of the Government of Assam.
The structure of the Commission has gone through many changes since the time it was incepted. From years together to what it stands now and as per the latest amendment in 2005, the strength of the Commission was stabilized at a total of 7, one Chairman and 6 members.
