 BESCOM recruitment and jobs 2012Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited was formed in the late 1990’s to act as a distribution centre for Bangalore Division.  It caters to over 2 million customers in the Bangalore Metropolitan Area. Its jurisdiction include distribution of electricity in 8 districts in Karnataka which include Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Kolar, Tumkur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Ramanagaram and Chikkaballapura.

BESCOM covers a radius of more than 40,000 square kilometres with three operating zonal offices such as Bangalore Urban Area division, Bangalore countryside Area section and Chitradurga distribution centre.  It has also devised ways and means to get the payment done from the customers in a simplified and uncomplicated manner. Throughout Bangalore, it has tied up with another service provider called Bangalore One to help the customers make the payments in a timely and convenient manner. Each of the Bangalore one counters are computerized with dynamic, fast paced professionals. The significance of BESCOM nurtures several BESCOM Job openings every year.

Different types of departments within BESCOM

BESCOM consists mainly of 2 types of department’s namely Technical wing and Administrative wing.

Technical wing consists of three different sub-sections namely

1.)  Investigation wing- This wing is primarily responsible for conducting an independent investigation prior to starting or installation of a new plant. These include Project feasibility report, providing the budgetary approvals and timelines.

2.)  Execution wing- This wing would be the sole point of contact for executing any new projects such as new power plant installation and so on.

3.)  Operations Maintenance Wing- This wing would be the principal division, which would do the maintenance and servicing of any power plants installed.

Administrative wing consists of audit and accounts department wherein it would be the sole department which would keep a track of all records, documentation and audit checklists. There are quite a lot of BESCOM jobs available.

Eligibility criteria

For the BESCOM job openings in the technical wing, Candidates should have completed their degree in Engineering in disciplines such as Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Instrumentation. Candidates who have obtained an aggregate of 60% in their degrees would be preferred and for admin wing MCOM, CA , ICWA MBA would be preferred.
